Coliving with us in Dakar

Ngor Island Surfcamp has been running surf trips in Senegal for 20 years. We want to distinguish ourselves as the leading surf operator in the region. We have a commitment to constantly improve and upgrade everything we offer to our guests, including meals, sleep quality, transport comfort and of course, surf guiding. Our slogan is "Serious about surfing, Awesome in accommodation".
Surf access and Transport
The surfcamp has 2 waves out-front, including the iconic 'Ngor Right', the most consistent wave in West Africa. Guests can surf these waves on their own time, and avoid any weekend crowds by easily being first in the water at dawn. When the swell hits other spots around Dakar, we have three 4x4 vehicles and one private speedboat ready to take you to the best waves of the day. Our surf guides, and photographer, are hand-picked and trained in-house to help provide the best possible surf trip experience. During road trip season, which are included in your stay, we take guests to remote surf spots outside Dakar, both north and south of the country.
Location and Facilities
Our location provides a relaxed and serene tropical island feel, but only a 2 minute boat ride from the energetic city life of Dakar. Despite the island being totally off-grid, the surfcamp is able to provide a lot of comforts for your benefit after a long day of surfing. An outdoor pool, a well-equipped gym and cold drinks/beer available 24/7 make up just a few of the facilities on offer. All our rooms are fitted with warm showers, daily cleaning and our signature 33cm luxury mattresses - a source of endless compliments from guests.
The Vibe and the Catering
Whether you are travelling solo, with friends or as a couple, the surfcamp is purposefully run in a way that promotes community and friendship between guests, as well as with the staff. You will meet like-minded people, stoked on adventure travel, and exchange stories with them during the communal meals. Our highly-praised dinner menu guarantees that you won't eat the same dish for 14 days straight. Furthermore, buffet breakfast is served until 10:30am, so you can sleep in or have a mega-morning surf session without worrying about if there is food left.
Our Reputation among surfers and our Name in the media
We are blessed to receive many emails starting with a variation of "My friends recommended you... , I've heard many great things about... , We came last year and would like to return...". Our reputation by word-of-mouth around the world, as well as our flattering online reviews are a source of great pride for the team. Seeing our name published in respected surf media such as "Stormrider Surf Guides" and World Surf League "Brilliant Corners documentary" inspires us to continue pushing your surf trip to the next level.

Our remote working community
Join up for amazing surf trips to the surrounding breaks, or team up and head away on epic overnight surf chasing safaris during your off-work days.
To recover your muscles from all the surfing, we recommend joining for some yoga up on the roof-top. Enjoy the yoga class with an amazing 360 view of all the waves surrounding Ngor, and not to forget, a view of the stunning sunsets.

Our Coworking Space
In 2025, the surfcamp opened a dedicated remote working space. The space has an adapted long table for laptop work and armchairs for calls, in a quiet environment. Wi-Fi is provided. Various speed tests conducted throughout the month of January 2025 reported a download rate of 33-64MB/per second.
You'll also find other areas where remote working can be done in a quiet, but more informal relaxed environment. Inside you have pillow couches with a low coffee table, ideal for a more 'lazy' work position. Outside, the garden has several large tables and benches in the shade, providing a more traditional 'desk' set-up. The garden has proved a popular place to work from as the direct ocean views and quiet surroundings promote concentration and productivity.
The Wi-Fi is more than sufficient for video conferencing and downloading files. However, many remote workers at the surf camp choose to buy a cheap 4G data package on a local sim card. This way they make sure they're covered if their connectivity needs exceed what the camp Wi-Fi is able to provide.
It is important to note that the island is entirely solar-powered, meaning that all charging for laptops and mobile phones is done at the dedicated charging station in the living room, or in the remote working space. Electronic devices cannot be charged in your room. This is not something to be alarmed about, people quickly adapt to the logistics.

The Surf near Dakar, Senegal
Surrounding Ngor Island there are 20 different surf spots. Every day at the camp we check the conditions and run surf trips to the best spots throughout the day. So once you're finished with the workday, you can enjoy a 4x4 or boat drop-off, right at the peak.
Since the waves around Dakar mainly break over reefs, this may not be the best Coworksurf location for complete beginners. But if you already got some surf skills, and are looking for a wave paradise where you can get some work done. This is the place for you.

Reviews
Jon Stever
I spent an incredibly nourishing 6 weeks at the surf camp, remote working, surfing, centering. I will return. I couldn't recommend it higher. The island is unique, a short boat ride (swim and/or SUP trip) to the dynamic and artistic capital, yet you live in the peaceful quiet of a traditional village without cars or roads, surrounded by the Atlantic ocean on the western-most tip of the continent, with an excellent left and right reef/point on your doorstep. The camp is at once elegant, simple, off-grid. The staff are wonderful, kind, attentive, human. Shared dinners are beautiful moments to reflect on the day, and connect with Pierre and the enchanting characters attracted to this special place. You're invited to be yourself, to opt in and out of surfing and cultural activities throughout the days, to be incredibly social or to disappear into your work or private meditation on the roof terrace.
