The Surf near Puerto Escondido, Mexico
There’s a reason Mexico’s best pro surfers - and many international pro’s - choose the small town of Puerto Escondido to be their home. Playa Zicatela is world known for its massive swells, and throws some of the biggest and heaviest waves in the world, rising up to 40 feet in late summer.
The 3-meter beach breaks are a true challenge for any advanced surfer, and a certain spectacle to watch from the beach if you’d rather skip the line up. There is a fair bit of localism in the water, so be sure to keep yourself to the surf etiquette, and to respect the locals.
Every day you’ll see boards being broken, and heavy barrels being conquered. Hopefully you’ll be able to witness one of the frequent surf contests that are held on the beach of Zicatela when you're there. To understand what's going on with the water here, be sure to check Vice's video on big wave surfing in Puerto Escondido, Mexico!
You can bring your own board, or buy a second hand from one of the two surf shops on the main street by playa Zicatela. Good used boards range between $180 usd to $350 usd to buy, and the lovely lady from the shop will buy your board back for 50% of the price if it's not too damaged.
Yoga
Many of our guests love yoga, and it'll be easy to find some space and a buddy. There's plenty of space in our garden to get your daily session in, or walk to the beach to give your mind and body the love it deserves during sunrise or sunset.Good food is good mood
If input inspires output, it’s important you’ll get some delicious nutrition in your system to do your best work and to get that paddle power. We are big food lovers ourselves, and we love our rich recipes and a good cup of coffee. We’re passionate about our authentic, organic and vegetarian food in our cafe, and provide a relaxed space to enjoy your food, rich juices, smoothies and fruit.
All our products come from local producers. Right next to our cafe you will find a pizzeria that also sells fresh bread and pastries like croissants and pastel de nata.. hmmm.

Everything was perfect.
The perfect balance of a quiet place to work or rest during the day, plus the chance of meeting people from all over the world and having a few drinks at evening/night in a beautiful property with an amazing pool, with great group activities (optional of course) organized by the kindest accomodation staff (Diana and Maria). Casa Losodeli also has a perfect location, being situated only 7 min by foot from Carrizalillo beach, probably my favourite beach in the world. It's 10 min by car from the airport (no need to rush or stress if you're flying) and 10 min away from Zicatela, the night zone full of amazing bars and nightclubs for all kinds of styles. I couldn't recommend it more and I'm definitely staying here again when I come back to Puerto Escondido.

Beautiful setting, super fast wifi and awesome management have made this a lovely place to stay. Friendly people, but overall a tranquil vibe that makes it easy to both relax and work if you need to. I’m on video calls all day and have found the wifi to be surprisingly strong, better than expected. The entire building is spotless - I feel like there’s constantly someone sweeping or wiping down surfaces - and all of the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. The cafe could easily hike their prices but it’s very reasonable and the food, coffee and juices are great. Highly recommend Casa Losodeli if you’re ever in Puerto!

Casa Losodeli is a wonderful place to live, work, relax and meet people. Jenny and Kevin take great care of all activities and it's super easy to meet new people and at the same time it's wonderful to have peace and quiet. Good wifi, comfy beds, nice rooms. Good breakfast in the cafe.
