Working Remotely in Muizenberg

In South Africa's Western Cape province, you find the seaside suburb and relaxed surf community of Muizenberg. Only a 30-minute drive from Cape Town CBD.

Home to one of the most famous beaches in Cape Town and also considered to be Cape Town's main surf spot, this is a great place for remote working and surfing. Since the water in Muizenberg is coming from the Indian Ocean, the water is warm here, so this is also a great spot if you like swimming.

Besides plenty of tourists, surfers, professionals, young families, and artists, Muizenberg also has a community of digital nomads. And for working there are some great coworking spaces as well as lots of cafes with free wifi.

Surfing in Muizenberg

Known as one of the best places in the world to learn how to surf, Muizenberg is a beginner surfer's dream. Thanks to a long, gradual gradient sand bottom, most of the energy from incoming swells gets removed, and you are left with crumbly, cruisy, mellow waves.

Perfect for beginners, but also for anyone who enjoys smooth rides. So if you're a longboarder, you will also have a great time here. Since Muizenberg is such a beginner's dream, there are also plenty of surf schools, rentals, and surf camps around.

Worth pointing out is that there are sharks here, but the beach also has a highly efficient system of shark spotters implemented.

Getting There

The closest airport is Capetowns International Airport. From the airport it's about a 30 min drive to get to Muizenberg.
